October Monthly Meeting Update

Our monthly meeting is coming up on October 17, 2017, and we have a packed agenda. In addition to having sample ballot packs available to folks who can't make it to Pancakes for PCOs, we'll be electing a new Secretary, appointing a representative for the King County Democrats' Legislative Action Committee and Deputy Treasurer, and considering a resolution regarding homeless encampment sweeps in Seattle.

In addition, we will hear form a panel discussing American Healthcare. The discussion over health care and insurance policy in the United States is front and center as Republicans threaten to take away insurance coverage from millions. Democrats in Congress agree that the Affordable Care Act needs reform, and are leading that fight in D.C.

There are also many who believe that the ACA should be transformed into a truly universal healthcare system. We will be joined by representatives from Indivisible North Seattle, Whole Washington, and United for Single Payer. They will discuss ways we can all help not only defend against the GOP attacks on the ACA, but also steps we can take to move our health care system in a more progressive direction.

Check out the entire agenda here. The description of the duties of Treasurer can be found in our bylaws (page 4, Section 7.4). Minutes from the September Special meeting are here. Minutes from the September General Meeting are here. We look forward to seeing you!
